United States Marine Corps History

The United States Marine Corps was born on November 10th, 1775 when the Continental Marines were founded to provide sharpshooters on Navy vessels during the Revolutionary War. 

Tun Tavern

Tun Tavern was a brewery and tavern in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that hosted some of the first meetings of the Continental Congress. It also held the first recruitment drive for the United States Marine Corps in 1775. 

Tun Tavern is the birthplace of the Marine Corps.
